If you’ve read my blogs or watched my videos, you know that I took a parental leave in the summer of 2018. One of the things we did during that time was travel across BC and camp.

This was our first time camping as a family with our 3 kids, 5 and under. First of all, we needed a tent! Being that we would be camping in the mountains and taking into consideration that it might get cold at night, my wife wanted to get a SUV tent that connects to our vehicle.

Low and behold, the Napier Backroadz SUV Tent! (links below)

I actually bought this tent on sale for only $184. It is a 9 ft x 9 ft tent with 6.8 feet of headroom. It has a vehicle trunk cover on one of the sides of the tent that allows you to open your trunk and have it become part of the tent to allow access to inside your vehicle. This was an important part of our purchase as we wanted to make sure that the kids could sleep inside the vehicle if it got cold out and also for them to feel more safe.

The tent can connect to the back of pretty much any SUV, as it is just a part of the tent that stretches over your vehicle. There are little latches that you can hook on or in your car to keep it tight. It is also really easy to set this tent up, just a couple minutes with 2 people, as it is quite large.

This tent had everything we needed for our first camping trip. It worked great and I would totally recommend it to anyone going camping that doesn’t want to spend a ton on an expensive tent.
